Flagging Certification - Initial

This class instructs the student on proper flagging and traffic control, as determined by WISHA standards, and also covers the new "emergency-flagging" rule. Upon successful completion of this course, taught by a Master Instructor, American Traffic Safety Services Association, you will be taught professional flagging techniques and proper work zone set-up in accordance with standards and guidelines of the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), and the Department of Labor and Industries' (L & I) Washington Administrative Code pertaining to flagging and temporary traffic control. Students passing the demonstration portion and 50 question exam will receive the Washington State Flagger Certification Card accepted in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana, and the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) National Flagger Certification Card accepted in most other States. Course includes references to the ATSSA flagging workbook, MUTCD, workshops, flagging demonstration, video, and PowerPoint presentation. Successful completion of course certifies student for a period of three years.

Prerequisites: Must be in good physical condition with good vision and hearing. You must be 18 years of age to hold a Flagging card & provide picture ID. It is recommended by the instructor to bring a highlighter pen.

Who needs training? Any person who wishes to work as a flagger

Required Frequency of Training: Every three years

Cost: $95.00

Class Length: 6 hour minimum
