Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Hybrid Accelerated Course
This course meets the Washington State Department of Health requirements for initial EMT certification. This is an accelerated course with the didactic portion conducted through distributed “online” learning. The course duration is approximately 11 weeks. EMT training will prepare you for an entry level position in the field of Prehospital Emergency Medical Services.
CLASS DAYS & TIMES:
Winter quarter will begin in January 5th, 2026. Class is live and in-person every Monday and Wednesday, excluding holidays, from 9:00am-2:00pm for Fire District 5 students. Clark College Students will meet Mondays and Wednesdays 4:00pm to 9:00pm (excluding Summer term). Final Practicals will be held on Friday March 20th (Clark Sudents) and Saturday March 21st (CCFD5 students).
REGISTRATION:
Our Winter Registration will open on Monday December 1st at 9am. Registration will be an equal opportunity event. When registering, you will be asked to agree to terms prior to processing payment. Currently our terms of registration require each student to submit all prerequisites in full to the CCFD5 Office by the end of their Orientation time slot.
- We will not be taking any phone registrations, and we highly encourage online registration as the course does fill very quickly.
- When paying through the website you will have the option of paying full tuition, which is $2125, or only the non-refundable registration fee of $150. Please note there is a credit card transaction fee applied automatically to each transaction.
- Payment via cash/check, must be made in person at CCFD5. Please note, should you choose to register in person, you are not guaranteed a spot in the program due to on-line registrations automatically taking precedence.
PRE-REQUISITES:
Prerequsites can be submitted after a student is registered for the course, however a student may begin collecting their own prerequisites as soon as they know they want to take the course and have those prerequisites prepared to turn in after registration. All prerequisites must be submitted as a whole packet and are due by December 11th at (11am for CCFD5 Students) or (6pm for Clark College students). The prerequisite packet must be submitted prior to the end of Orientation on December 11th. If all prerequisites are not turned in by this date, then the student will be removed from the course roster and ineligible for a refund on their registration fee.
List of prerequisites:
- Copy of a medical level CPR (BLS) card such as: American Heart Association BLS, Emergency Care and Safety Institute for Healthcare Providers, Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers, or a CPR course for Professional Rescuers. This certification must include hands-on skills.
- Must be at least 17 years old. Photo ID as Proof.
- Must provide a copy of High School diploma, GED, or College Transcripts.
- Washington State background check (www.wsp.wa.gov.). This is a Basic Criminal History Check. CCFD5 can do this for a non-refundable $15 fee.
- Immunization records for MMR and Hepatitis B or a waiver.
- Negative Tuberculosis test results conducted within the prior year. You must be negative for TB.
In addition to the above prerequisites, there is a Mandatory Orientation day to attend, during which we cover important information and paperwork. Orientation will be held on December 11th.

- Clark College Students: December 11th at 4pm to 6pm

TUITION:
Our current tuition options are:
Pay in full - $2,125.00 including non-refundable $150.00 application fee due at the time of registration.
Or
Pay Application Fee - $150.00 at time of registration; Remaining balance of $1,975.00 must be paid prior to the first day of class.

All students are required to purchase the following supplies from CCFD5 (no exceptions): Pick-up of purchased materials will be on Orientation night, unless prearranged.

CCFD5 Uniform Shirt: approximately $20 to $45+tax, short/long sleeved t-shirts or sweatshirts
Lab Kit: $55+tax- includes a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, pen light and N95 mask. FIT testing for the N95 mask is held the week prior to the beginning of class.
